Plan of Salvation

The Bible is clear and without any other possible interpretation that there is only one God, one faith, one baptism, and one way to God the Father in heaven. And that is through Jesus Christ and His sacrificial death on the cross:

  • Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6
  • Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12
  • There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4:4-6
  • Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” John 11:25-26

Good works cannot save you. The gift of eternal salvation is a free gift given by God to all those who believe in Jesus Christ and what His death on the cross really means for all men:

  • For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8-9
  • …know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified. Galatians 2:16

Once you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, you are now declared righteous before the eyes of God. Not that we are righteous but that the righteousness of Jesus Christ has now been imputed (attributed) to us. It is through His righteousness that we can have personal and intimate relationship with God:

  • God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21
  • But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! Romans 5:8-9

So how does one become saved and receive eternal life?

Admit that you are a sinner, confess your sins to God, and be willing to repent (turn) from those sins. Accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior and accept the fact that Jesus became flesh (man) to die on the Cross for all of our sins and that He rose from the dead on the third day:

  • If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives. 1 John 1:9-10
  • Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord… Acts 3:19
  • That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9

Acceptance of Jesus Christ can happen to anyone at anytime at any place (does not have to be in a church). Say the following prayer out loud from your heart and you will be saved:

God, I know that I have been living my life for my self and not for You. I have done many things that don’t please you. I ask you to forgive me. I believe that you died on the cross for me. You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. Help to live my life in a way that pleases you. Thank you God for forgiving me and giving me eternal life. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray, Amen.

If you prayed to accept Jesus Christ today, welcome to God’s family. Your decision to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior is the best decision you have ever made. As a brand new follower of Jesus Christ, the following are 4 essential steps to move you forward toward spiritual growth:

  • Read your Bible daily
  • Attend church services regularly
  • Get involved in a ministry group
  • Pray daily

In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.

Luke 15:10
